1969 Hot Wheels Redline 36 Ford Coupe US Rare Nuclear Hot Pink Near Mint Plus. Back when common sense prevailed and boys were boys Mattel wanted to target young girls to get involved in the hobby and what better way than to make some cars in shades of pink, a color that practically represented the gender! It was a good idea but girls liked dolls and girly toys and so not many were made in this color because boys just wouldn’t want a pink car. It was a very simple time when black was black and white was white and there was very little gray. So not many pink cars were made and if they did find their way into the hands of a young boy then it probably didn’t get much play. That’s part of the story here, but then a collector friend came along in the 80’s and purchased it for $100.00, a large sum for that time period. He then stashed it away in one of his many cases and there it sat for forty years. Today is its first time on the market since the early 80’s. It’s in stunning condition, as all of his personal collection is, and other than some toning, Hot Wheel patina to mark the years, it is close to perfect. This is a rare car in this condition and will only continue to sky rocket in value.
