HITCH N SWITCH 1967 VTG TOY 🚂 TRAIN LOCOMOTIVE AMF VOIT PROTOTYPE/SAMPLE NEW SEALED RARE ANTIQUE Up for your consideration is this really rare find!! Probably the last one on earth that is still sealed!! It is an antique toy train made (we believe) by AMF Voit for the trading stamp industry. We thought this was sent as a sample to the Triple S trading stamp company but for some reason was returned back to AMF. (More details below) In any event this is probably the last of its kind Please be sure to see the other items we have listed. FEATURES: Battery operated with 2 automated switches that reverse the train direction. ADD. INFO: At first glance it would seem that this Hitch N Switch was a product made by AMF Voit (it is printed on the side that it is made by AMF) (also for example; we have listed a sales pitch catalog of products made by AMF for potential sale to the S&H Green stamp company, as part of the products you could get when redeeming your Green Stamps) It would seem that this was another product made by AMF that was sent to the Triple S blue stamp company operating out of Hackensack NJ. And we thought that this was sent to them from AMF. But upon closer examination the ship-to label (which was typed out on a typewriter) is addresses TO: AMF at their Chicago headquarters (the label was then altered and the home address of the AMF Executive , R.B.Nelson, was hand-written onto the label) That was in 1967 (the post mark on the box is dated Dec 13(?) '67) Once it arrived there, that is where it stayed until 2018 when we purchased it at the estate sale of R.B. Nelson. So this was EITHER (1) a sample sent to Triple S stamps - that for some reason was ultimately returned to an AMF Executive -or- (b) it was made by an agent of the Triple S stamp company as a "sample" to an AMF executive for approval into AMF's catalog??? Not sure which but we do know that AMF made many items for the S&H Green stamp company so it makes sense that this was produced by AMF as part of their line-up of products to the trading stamp industry, which was very popular at the time. But what is throwing us off is that it was addressed to AMF from Triple S... so the question is why was this being sent FROM Triple S back to AMF? Because typically samples sent out by AMF were essentially "gifts" and became the property of the receiver and were never returned... So we have a conundrum... If anyone has any ideas about how this happened an email would be greatly appreciated. INCLUDED: The actual sample Hitch N Switch still sealed in the original cellophane and in the original shipping box pictured. NOT-INCLUDED: No props used for size reference. COUNTRY: Unknown MATERIAL: Plastic CONDITION: This comes to you in overall excellent condition. The only mentionables would be that there is a water mark stain on the outer shipping box as well as on actual box of the train set. at some point the box must have gotten moist of wet - but it did not affect the train set at all. The other thing is that one of the original staple used to seal the box at the factory kind of misfired and the 2 sharp points of the staples rubbed against the side of the carton leaving 2 wear spots on the side of the box. Aside from those 2 things this is in otherwise excellent condition and would make an outstanding addition to any collection. AUTHENTICITY and your SATISFACTION are UNCONDITIONALLY 100% GUARANTEED!!! Overall General Condition New Excellent Very Good Good Fair Poor Appearance Brand new and never used. No visible flaws in appearance. First quality, suitable for a gift. Like new condition. Upon close inspection some very minor signs of use or wear, but no serious flaws. Obviously used but kept in great conditional and well cared for. Expected normal signs of wear but no abuse. Clearly used allot, enough to cause significant signs of wear. See item description for more details on further future use. Used extensively, many cosmetic flaws and signs of wear.
